DESCRIPTION OF APARTMENT 1. Location: The apartment is in a modern building on Drury Lane in the heart of the West End, just 3 blocks from the Covent Garden Underground station and half a block from the new Opera House. If you are interested in museums, theaters, good restaurants, and local color, and want to do almost everything by walking, then this location is what you want. 2. Description: The building was built about six years ago, and looks brand new. The commercial half of the building faces Drury Lane; the residential half faces Crown Court, which is why the apartment is so quiet. The residential part has two large elevators that bring you to the apartment on the fourth floor. The apartment has a lot of light - so much, in fact, that we had to put miniblinds on all the windows. Everything works and is clean. The apartment itself can sleep four, if you put two people in the sofabed in the living room, but it is really comfortable only for two (or three) people. The bedroom has a queen-size bed and built-in closet and cabinetry that is lined in rosewood and beautifully made. The large living room has (in addition to sofabed and other usual living room furniture), a huge leather chair that "stands up" and "lies down" electronically, a cordless telephone and answering machine, and a TV set. Since the flat was furnished in 1999 everything is quite new. Internet access with WIFI has recently been added. The kitchen is thoroughly modern, with granite countertops, microwave oven, sink disposer, dishwasher, etc. The dining alcove adjoins the living room and has a table and four chairs. The washer and dryer work perfectly but are so slow that you need a lot of patience if you want to do any large loads. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower, and there is a good hand-held spray device. The apartment is fully equipped. You will find it clean and with fresh towels and linens. (Click on Floorplan for detailed layout of apartment.) 3. Safety: The front door of the building is attended by a concierge during the day. A closed circuit TV allows you to see callers before you buzz to let them in. The neighborhood is a safe one, and entry is from a pedestrianized courtyard area on which the building borders.
